I’m Linda, I’m passionate about all things spiritual.
It was my love of spiritual literature that was the catalyst for starting The White Sage Way.
Everytime I read a passage that made me smile, brought a lump to my throat or caused a warm glow inside, I would feel driven to show other people – to share it.
It was just a hop skip and a jump then to offering them as greeting cards, on luxury card, with beautiful finishes – the words deserve no less! But as I love all things spiritual, I soon decided to start offering crystals.
I have a stunning collection of beautiful crystals, including pocket hearts and stars that you’re unlikely to find elsewhere.
An important aspect of spirituality is daily practice and for that, daily reminders are very useful.
So, reading spiritual literature everyday is good, but if you don’t have time for a whole book, a wall plaque, with a special passage, can make a wonderful gift to yourself or someone you care about.
I’ve now decided to start putting the same messages on yoga (or anytime) Tees as well and will shortly be offering the same in baby grows.
The message – surround yourself with positive messages!
“I think creativity isn’t something you have or you don’t have, I think it’s something you get in touch with or don’t.”
Have you always been creative?
I think creativity isn’t something you have or you don’t have, I think it’s something you get in touch with or don’t.
In the past, I didn’t think of myself as creative, until I realized that actually, many things we do are creative – it doesn’t have to be a job.
I’d renovated lots of old houses – reconfiguring them, choosing fabrics and paints.
I’d redesigned gardens, choosing the shape, size and colour of plants as well as getting my hands dirty digging and planting.
The very act of choosing our clothes and make-up – it’s all creativity.
But I would do all that and then say ‘me? no I’m not at all creative’ – until I realized that I was!
What is it working with the materials that you particularly enjoy?
For me it’s colours – I love colour!
I can happily spend hours choosing between 200 different shades of yellow until I’m sure I’ve got the right one.
Then, I’ll happily stare are 200 different whiteboards, in every different light, until I’m sure I have the right White!
Can you tell us what inspires your items?
Spirituality! Spiritual literature. Spiritual practice. Spiritual beliefs. Prayers. Meditation. Yoga. The Universe.
“We then work with partners who, for example, with cards, print using specialized thermographic processes, to give the cards a luxury embossed look and feel and allow us to add glitter to the mix.”
How do you make your items?
It’s all about Adobe, as first and foremost, it’s about design.
We then work with partners who, for example, with cards, print using specialized thermographic processes, to give the cards a luxury embossed look and feel and allow us to add glitter to the mix.
The wonder of Adobe also allows us to offer our designs in digital form, for wall plaques or, as we think of them, daily reminders!
Crystals are cut and polished according to our specific requirements and you’d struggle to find our pocket hearts and stars elsewhere!
Tell us a bit about your studio or where it is you work from?
My studio is in a little East Sussex village on a working farm.
We have the joy of being in the middle of the countryside, yet only a stones throw from Brighton and the beach!
My studio is a slightly chaotic sight – cards, crystals, T Shirts and paperwork, printers, photography kit – all vying for a space that it is outgrowing fast!
Is there anything within your studio or workspace you could not live without?
What does craft mean to you?
Usually handmade, but anything that is beautifully produced.
Who inspires you as a creative entrepreneur?
I am inspired more by spiritual teachers than fellow creatives, but I love to see so many people following their dream, creating fabulous products, on their own terms.
What is your proudest achievement so far?
For a creative, there are lots of great achievements.
Every win is a win!
A new wholesale account, a great review, just somebody complimenting your products can feel fabulous.
I honestly think my proudest achievement is that I haven’t given up yet – there are so many times, when you’re up against it in some way, that it would be so easy!
